Gilles Gubelmann was born in Switzerland and studied piano and ballet at the Geneva Conservatory. He worked as an art and antiques expert for Koller Auctions in Zurich for several years. After that, he moved to Venice to work as a stage and costume designer. Currently, the artist lives and works in Vienna, where he successfully created the set design for Baal (Cerhá) and Woyzek 2.0 (productions at Neue Oper Wien). Over the course of his career, he has worked in Italy (Festival della Valle d’Itria), Paris (Chátelet), Germany, Switzerland, and England (Kings Place and Southbank Centre).
